About Katrina:

I am a passionate sewing and crochet enthusiast with a love for sharing my knowledge and skills. I believe that sewing and crochet are not just creative outlets, but valuable life skills that can bring joy, relaxation, and a sense of accomplishment.

An introduction to Sew Much Fun

Sew Much Fun offers individualized private sewing and crochet lessons for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to enhance your existing abilities, I provide a fun and supportive learning environment where you can achieve your creative goals. Each lesson series consists of 6 or more sessions, each lasting approximately one hour. During these sessions, students will complete a project of their choice while learning essential skills. You can also choose to have a single lesson if you just need a little help

We offer fun and supportive private lessons in sewing and crochet, tailored to your individual goals and skill level, for ages 6 to adult.

Sewing Lessons:

Learn to sew with confidence! My sewing lessons cover a wide range of techniques, from basic stitches to using sewing machines and patterns.

What You'll Learn:

  • Tool Identification and Safety: Identify the tools you'll be using and learn about tool safety and maintenance.
  • Textile Expertise: Learn about textiles, including fibers, weaves, and knits, and how they are made.
  • Project Preparation: Choose the right materials for your project and learn to read project instructions.
  • Fabric Handling: Identify the grain of the fabric and master measuring, pinning, and cutting techniques.
  • Basic Sewing Skills: Thread a needle, tie a secure sewing knot, and sew basic stitches.
  • Machine Skills: Depending on your project and abilities, you may also learn how to use a sewing pattern, identify sewing machine parts, ensure sewing machine safety, thread and use a sewing machine, and maintain sewing equipment.
  • Additional Techniques: How to shape fabric, and perform pressing and clipping

Crochet Lessons:

Discover the joy of crochet! My crochet lessons will guide you through the fundamentals, from basic stitches to reading patterns and creating your own unique projects.

What You'll Learn:

  • Yarn Knowledge: Learn to distinguish different fibers and sizes of yarn and understand why this is important. You'll also learn how to choose the right yarn for your project.
  • Hook Selection: Determine the size of a crochet hook and which hook is needed for your yarn and project.
  • Basic Techniques: Master how to hold a crochet hook and yarn and form basic stitches to create things.
  • Pattern Reading: Learn to read crochet patterns and combine basic stitches.
  • Advancing Skills: Control tension, count rows/rounds, understand gauge and measurements, change yarn colors, and finish projects.
  • Safety: Use scissors and needles safely.
  • Additional Skills: Basic hand sewing techniques will be taught if your project requires it

Lesson Format

Lessons are available for ages 6 to adult and can be conducted remotely or in person at my location in Lakeland, FL. Each lesson is approximately one hour long, and a typical course consists of 6 or more sessions.

Lesson Pricing

$30.00 for a single one hour lesson or 6 lessons for $150.00

Step Up for Students scholarships are accepted.
